Origins
The Ryūjin teapot is a homage to the legendary Dragon God, Ryūjin, who ruled the seas and controlled the rain in ancient Japanese lore. This teapot’s rustic design reflects the strength and protection symbolized by the dragon, with a carefully hand-engraved warmer that echoes Ryūjin’s mythical presence.
In the mountain temples, monks would brew tea using vessels similar to the Ryūjin teapot, seeking warmth and peace during the cold winter months. The dragon motif engraved on the ceramic warmer is not just a decorative element, but a symbol of the guardian’s watchful protection, ensuring the tea remains hot, as if touched by the breath of the Dragon God himself.
Made from high-quality pottery, the Ryūjin teapot retains heat for prolonged tea sessions, while the gentle flame beneath serves as a reminder of the dragon’s eternal fire. Each sip takes you closer to the ancient traditions of Japan, where every tea ceremony was infused with spiritual meaning, and where dragons were seen as protectors of the natural world.
Let the Ryūjin Teapot warm your tea and your spirit, invoking the calm and protection of the Dragon God with every pour.
Note: While few designs from ancient times have survived to the present day, we have meticulously combined various elements inspired by those that have endured. The Kumo teapot reflects this rich heritage, blending traditional craftsmanship with a unique aesthetic to create a product that honors the past while serving modern tea rituals.
